Fire envelopes rural Gypsum home

GYPSUM — An early morning fire Wednesday consumed an unoccupied home 13 miles south of Gypsum.The call came in about 6:30 a.m. when passersby saw smoke and flames coming from the unoccupied house, 13 miles up Gypsum Creek Road. Because there’s no cellular service in that area, they drove to a nearby residents and called 911, according to the Eagle County Sheriff’s office.The residence is a complete loss. However, firefighters prevented damage to two nearby structures, and kept the fire from spreading to the surrounding wildland area.No injuries were reported.The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office, Gypsum Fire Protection District, Greater Eagle …
