Vail names interim fire chief

VAIL — Vail Town Manager Stan Zemler recently announced the hiring of an interim fire chief to lead the department during the search for a new chief. Steve Pischke, formerly with the Mountain View Fire Department in Longmont, will join the department today. He’ll spend his first week transitioning with current chief Mark Miller, who has resigned effective Nov. 7 to head the Loveland Fire and Rescue Authority. Pischke, who retired last year after serving 12 years as Mountain View’s deputy chief, will remain in Vail for approximately three months while the town completes the selection process.
