VAIL — The huge, 22-foot halfpipe walls needed plenty of blue paint on Friday as snowy skies greeted competitors at Golden Peak.An Association of Freeskiing Professionals certified event, the competition marked the opening of a halfpipe that is the same size of that at the Olympics and also hosts the Burton US Open.
