Trucker seriously injured in collision with I-70 bridge near Dotsero

DOTSERO — A Grand Junction man was seriously injured Tuesday night when the bed of the dump truck he was driving was in the up position and crashed into an Interstate 70 bridge. About 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Steven Bounds, 53, was driving a large construction dump truck eastbound on U.S. Highway 6 near Dotsero. The Colorado State Patrol’s initial investigation indicates that the dump was in the lifted and up position when Bounds attempted to drive under the I-70 overpass near westbound exit 133.
