VAIL — A Wednesday construction project at the West Vail interchange along Interstate 70 contributed to a miles-long slowdown on the highway.The work, a guardrail repair project at the interchange, closed the eastbound off-ramp from I-70 into Vail. As of mid-day, traffic slowdowns backed up to mile marker 168 in Eagle-Vail.The guardrail project is expected to take just one day.Past the interchange, I-70 between the West Vail and main Vail interchanges has returned to its standard four-lane configuration following a project that built two new bridges for an underpass project to link the town’s north and south frontage roads.
