IRS phone scam continues in county

EAGLE COUNTY — The Eagle County Sheriff’s Office has recently received several reports from the public regarding Internal Revenue Service scam phone calls. The Sheriff’s Office reports that phone scams are a continuing and growing concern. Never provide financial or personal information to anyone over the phone and notify law enforcement if you receive any type of phone scams or calls that may be considered threatening. The IRS announced recently that “aggressive and threatening phone calls by criminals impersonating IRS agents remains a major threat to taxpayers, headlining the annual “Dirty Dozen” list of tax scams for the 2016 filing …
