COLORADO SPRINGS — Longtime area resident and business owner Michael Cacioppo was elected by acclamation to be the Republican candidate for state representative from House District 26 by Republican delegates from Routt and Eagle counties at the party’s recent state convention. There has not been a state representative elected from Eagle County since 1990.In a release, Cacioppo writes he’s environmentalist who helped file a $600 million lawsuit against Paramount Pictures Corporation — then owner of the Eagle Mine near Gilman — for damaging the Eagle River.
