No major injuries reported after Avon fireworks shot into crowd

AVON — Thousands gathered in Avon to see the town’s annual Salute to the USA fireworks show Friday at Harry A. Nottingham Park, but the show was cut short about halfway through when two fireworks shot over the lake and into the crowd. Some people in attendance were checked and released with minor burns, but officials were hearing of no major injuries immediately following the incident, Town Manager Virginia Egger told the Vail Daily.
