Gas leak closes four schools Friday

EDWARDS — A gas leak in Edwards gave students in four schools an unexpected day off Friday.Classes were canceled Friday at the Eagle County Charter Academy, June Creek Elementary School, Berry Creek Middle School and Red Canyon High School.A gas leak was reported in the area at 6:20 a.m., originating from a high pressure facility on Miller Ranch Road, said Tracy LeClair, public information officer with the Eagle River Fire Protection District.Roads in the area and Xcel Energy and Source Gas were notified, LeClair said.By 8:30 a.m. the leak was contained, and by 8:45 a.m. the roads were reopened.They closed …
