Two killed in Saturday accident on U.S. 6 near New Castle

A Glenwood Springs man and his female passenger were both killed in a crash early Saturday morning on U.S. 6 between Canyon Creek and New Castle, according to the Colorado State Patrol.According to a news release issued Monday afternoon, Erick Mondragon, 20, of Glenwood Springs was eastbound in a 1995 Toyota pickup truck around 3:45 a.m. when he lost control on a lefthand curve, skidded off the highway and rolled his truck before striking a steel fence.Both Mondragon and his passenger, Amalia Cabrera-Torres, 19, of New Castle, were pronounced dead at the scene.
