VAIL — Vail police and fire investigators are asking for the public’s help regarding a possible arson that occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on Tuesday near the Interstate 70 underpass construction site in Vail. After being dispatched by the Vail Public Safety Communications Center, two responding police officers located a small fire burning next to North Frontage Road near Savoy Drive. The officers attempted to douse the flames using hand-held extinguishers but were unsuccessful.A crew from the Vail Fire Department arrived on scene and quickly extinguished the fire, preventing it from spreading.
