VAIL — A total of 30 special events in the town of Vail Commission on Special Events’ cultural/recreational/community category are receiving $829,000 in support in 2016. An additional $150,000 has been awarded to eight proposals falling into a new category of education/enrichment events and programming that support the Town Council’s focus on providing Vail’s citizens and visitors with “an abundance of recreational, cultural and educational opportunities.” The funding comes from money collected from Vail business license fees and from the town’s general fund.
