Weather cancels Burton US Open slopestyle, again

VAIL — Every year the Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships seems to bring the weather with it.For the third time in four years, a slopestyle event was canceled on Wednesday due to weather on the Golden Peak course.In 2013, Vail’s first U.S. Open, powdery conditions prevented the women from attaining the speed necessary to make it off the course’s large jumps and onto the landings 50 to 70 feet away. The men were able to compete in finals that year, but for the women, the semifinal results became the official results in the 2013 women’s slopestyle championship.Last year, the women …
