Vail skate park work ends for winter

VAIL — Construction of Vail’s new skate park at the Lionshead parking structure is well on its way toward completion after breaking ground Aug. 4. The poured concrete in the park’s main area, half pipe and mini bowl is in place, as are the rails and other skating features. California Skateparks and the other contractors have wrapped up construction activities for the winter season. They will return to the project on April 11 to complete the remaining work. This includes safety netting, lighting, painting and concrete staining and sealing. The park must remain covered in the plastic sheeting to prevent excessive water …
