EAGLE-VAIL — The Eagle-Vail Community Garden is currently recruiting cooks, both professional and amateur, for its annual Chili Cook-Off, to be held Sunday, Oct. 18, at the Eagle-Vail Pavilion from 5 to 7 p.m. Past FavoritesGreen chilies were the favorites in last year’s event. Some cooks used locally hunted venison and elk to create a true Eagle County chili; others brought oyster crackers, shredded pepper jack or jalapenos as toppings. Gil and Cory Fancher won last year’s grand prize — an Eagle-Vail family pool pass — with their Fancher’s Fantabulous Green Chili. Mountain Flour’s Shawn Smith won the professional category …
