Fishing conditions vary

Late summer can be both a blessing and a curse for fly fishermen in the Rocky Mountains. The water is low and clear, which makes trout easier to find but a little spooky. The big hatches have tapered off but trout are still willing to rise to terrestrials like ants and hoppers. The weather is usually warm and predictable, but afternoons often bring wind or the occasional thunderstorm.
