VAIL — Seventy years ago, Vail’s Dr. Tom Steinberg was a private in the U.S. Army and one of the troops in the 42nd Infantry Division who liberated Dachau, Germany. He eventually became Vail’s first full-time physician.Meet Steinberg, and hear his moving story firsthand Thursday to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps during World War II.On April 29, 1945, the 42nd Infantry Division entered the Dachau concentration camp, the earliest and longest-functioning SS-controlled camp in Nazi Germany.
