EAGLE — Firefighters quickly contained a wildland fire east of Eagle on Saturday.The Greater Eagle Fire Protection District and Gypsum Fire Protection District were dispatched to the fire, east of Eagle on Highway 6, at 5:29 p.m. They were able to contain the fire to 1 acre. The fire was a permitted two-pile burn that escaped and burned an open field and several cottonwoods. The fire did come within 50 feet of the owner’s pump house before being contained.
