BEAVER CREEK — In theory, it’s simple.Be the fastest in the downhill and the fastest in the slalom, and you win the men’s combined.It ain’t that easy.And that is why Sunday’s race, which starts at 10 a.m. with the downhill and has the slalom at 2:15 p.m., is just wide open.First off, the combined is not contested often, so we don’t have a big sample size like we do in the traditional disciplines.
