Battle Mountain rolls in season-opening giant slalom

BEAVER CREEK — Battle Mountain alpine captured five of the six podium spots in the opening giant slalom of the season on Friday. For the boys, the Huskies’ Sands Simonton, Quintin Cook and Keenan Zopf swept the top three spots in that order. Haley Frischholz and Abby Davidson went 1-2 for the ladies. Battle Mountain won the team side for both the boys and the girls with a perfect score on the guys’ side, beating Eagle Valley, 177-153, while the girls topped Summit, 175-169.
