MINTURN — Highway 24 remained closed in both directions Sunday due to a rock slide between Minturn and Red Cliff. The road is expected to stay closed until at least mid-morning Monday, said Tracy Trulove of the Colorado Department of Transportation. The rock slide left large boulders in the highway and damaged the roadway. Workers from the Department of Transportation used explosives to break up the large boulders Sunday, but “rock scaling” work, removal of loose rock from the slope above, will continue today. The road will then be repaired, Trulove said. The slide occurred at around 6:45 p.m. Saturday. …
