Van Garderen wins Vail Time Trial

VAIL — Aspen’s Tejay van Garderen extended his overall lead in the USA Pro Challenge on Saturday in convincing fashion. Van Garderen, who is the defending champion, won the Stage 6 Vail Time Trial by 52 seconds with a time of 24 minutes, 26.5 seconds. He crushed his own course record of 25 minutes, 2 seconds. The yellow jersey holder averaged 24.6 miles per hour in his ride up Vail Pass.
