VAIL — A wildfire broke out a quarter mile up Red Sandstone Road in Vail on Monday. Responders received the call at 1:15 p.m., when smoke was reported on U.S. Forest Service land above Potato Patch Road. Crews from the Greater Eagle Fire Protection District, the Eagle River Fire District, the U.S. Forest Service and the Vail Fire Department worked to stop the blaze from spreading.
