Two-mile relays take center stage on Day 1 at state

DENVER — The opening day of the state track and field meet was a time for the local 3,200-meter relay teams to shine.The Battle Mountain girls took fifth, while the Huskies boys finished ninth.Alex Raichart, Rychelle Denardo, Melissa Delgado and Naomi Harding clocked a time of 9 minutes, 35 seconds.“The girls ran unbelievably,” Huskies coach Robert Parish said. “That was one second off the school record, and we’ve had good 4-by-8 teams.
