Crews respond to chimney fire at Wildridge home

AVON — The Eagle River Fire Protection District extinguished flames behind the firebox of a wood-burning fireplace in a residence on East Wildridge Road on Thursday. Crews responded to a report of a structure fire in a single-family residence at about 10:30 a.m. and found working flames that had extended inside the wall and up the chimney chase toward the attic, says the Eagle River Fire Protection District. Vail Fire and Emergency Services, Avon Police Department, Eagle County Paramedic Services and the Vail Public Safety Communications Center also responded.
