Eagle Valley Land Trust secures conservation easement

EDWARDS — The Eagle Valley Land Trust in conjunction with the Eagle County Open Space program and U.S. Forest Service secured a conservation easement for a highly visible area in the Lake Creek valley on Wednesday.The 167-acre conservation easement covers six properties and will be a sanctuary for wildlife, including elk and mule deer. “The conservation easement is basically an insurance policy for the community,” said Jim Daus, the executive director of the Eagle Valley Land Trust. “The county is really putting its money where its mouth is by placing a conservation easement on the property so it can never …
