CAIC Benefit Bash in Breckenridge raises money for avalanche safety

BRECKENRIDGE — Backcountry lovers, unite!That’s the general sentiment behind the annual Colorado Avalanche Information Center Benefit Bash, set for Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. at the Breckenridge Riverwalk Center. The event is CAIC’s largest fundraiser of the year, expected to raise about $100,000 for the group’s programs.About 1,200 people are expected to attend this year’s event, said Aaron Carlson, executive director of Friends of CAIC, the organization’s fundraising arm. “It’s been touted as the ‘locals’ party’ in Breckenridge, and people come from as far as Steamboat or Durango to attend.
