Tolls set for I-70 shoulder lane

CLEAR CREEK COUNTY — The Colorado Department of Transportation Wednesday announced rates for a tolled shoulder lane along Interstate 70. The currently announced top rate is $15, with an asterisk. More on that in a moment.The state this year constructed the 13-mile lane along eastbound I-70 from Empire through the Veterans Memorial Tunnels just east of Idaho Springs. The $70 million project is intended to ease congestion on go-home days for drivers headed back to the Front Range.
