EAGLE COUNTY — Fulford, the mining camp at the foot of New York Mountain that boomed in the 1880s through the early 1900s, has long been a topic of fascination for local residents. In 1896, when the gold and silver mining boom was at its peak, close to 300 people made their homes in Fulford.
