Former deputy gets jail after guilty plea

EAGLE — A former Eagle County sheriff’s deputy will serve a stretch in the jail where he used to put criminals.Timothy Joseph Hay, 42, was sentenced to 180 days in jail — 90 days straight and the rest work release — after he pleaded guilty to a pair of misdemeanors, trespassing and misdemeanor assault. Hay struck the plea deal with prosecutors after initially being charged with sexually assaulting an Eagle County woman. The case was turned over to prosecutors from Colorado’s Ninth Judicial District, after it was transferred from local prosecutors in the Fifth Judicial District.As part of the plea …
