Former deputy takes plea deal in sexual assault case

EAGLE — A former Eagle County Sheriff’s deputy pleaded guilty to two misdemeanors, avoiding a felony trial on three counts of sexual assault.Timothy Joseph Hay, 42, pleaded guilty to third-degree assault and second-degree criminal trespass — both misdemeanors. Hay will also have to register as a sex offender.According to testimony in his preliminary hearing, Hay was so drunk or drugged that he had to be helped from an Eagle bar by two women, one of whom later accused him of raping her.That woman could have driven Hay to his home, less than a mile from the bar in Eagle, but …
