Rockslide leaves Highway 24 closed in both directions

MINTURN — Highway 24 is closed in both directions Sunday due to a rockslide between Minturn and Red Cliff. The rockslide left large boulders in the highway and damaged the roadway. Workers from the Colorado Department of Transportation are on scene assessing the damage. There is currently no estimated time of reopening. The slide occurred at around 6:45 p.m. Saturday in the same area where a major rockslide occurred in April. Workers will need to blast the boulders into smaller pieces in order to remove them, said Tracy Trulove of the Department of Transportation. …
