Paintings in national parks spark probe, furor

SALT LAKE CITY — A series of colorful, eerie faces painted on rocks in some of the West’s most pristine, well-known national parks has sparked an investigation by authorities and a furor online. National Park Service agents have found the images at five parks in California, Utah and Oregon so far, and Park Service spokesman Jeffrey Olson said the vandalism could lead to felony charges for the person responsible.
