Battle Moutain soccer, Vail Christian spikers nab wins

PALISADE — At halftime of Friday’s Battle Mountain-Palisade game, Huskies coaches David Cope and Allie O’Neill said nothing. On the other hand, Battle Mountain center-back Eli Stephens eventually had quite a bit to say. “He basically stood up an said, ‘This isn’t acceptable,’” Cope said. “’Remember the first time we played (Palisade, a 9-0 win). Let’s do what makes us a good team.’ He was great. We’ve been waiting for a senior to stand up.” That fired up the Huskies who broke a 1-1 halftime tie and turned it into a 5-1 victory at Palisade.
