Avon man gets probation for armed standoff with police

EAGLE — An Avon man was sentenced to two years probation after pleading guilty to charges stemming from an armed all-night standoff with local police. Brent Schoen, 40, kept police at bay all night when he locked himself in his apartment with a shotgun. The incident ended peacefully when he surrendered around dawn. Schoen, who has a master’s degree and earned his bachelor’s from Auburn University, could have been sent to prison after he pleaded guilty to felony menacing and obstructing of a peace officer. Instead, he was sentenced to two years of supervised probation and will live with family …
