Bronfman to replace Midori in New York Philharmonic concert

VAIL — The New York Philharmonic and Bravo! Vail said Tuesday that pianist Yefim Bronfman will replace Midori — who has been advised by her physicians to curtail work and travel for a brief period due to complications of pregnancy — in the opening program of the New York Philharmonic’s Bravo! Vail summer residency July 18, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3, led by Music Director Alan Gilbert. The program will also feature Toscanini’s 1951 arrangement of “The Star-Spangled Banner”; Nielsen’s Maskarade Overture; selections from Grieg’s Peer Gynt; and Liszt’s Les Préludes.
