‘Ten Days on the Colorado!’ photo contest kicks off July 3

This July the photographers of the Vail Valley Art Guild Photographers (VVAGP) will participate in a competition called “Ten Days on the Colorado!” All of their photos must be taken along the Colorado River Road (Eagle County Road 301) any allowed side roads, and hiking trails from North of I-70 at Exit 134 and west of where the Colorado River Road joins U.S. Hwy 131. The photos must be taken from Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 12. The season’s over and it’s just begun.It’s the beauty of baseball in the mountains. The high school season is over, but the club season is just beginning. And a lot of local players will be heading into the summer season with all-league honors to their credit.DevilsEagle Valley had three first-team selections — Wade Ticer, Harrison Stevens and Eric Boyd.Ticer pitched and manned first base. On the mound, Ticer sported a 3.82 ERA in the ever-hitter-friendly Western Slope and fanned a team-high 48 batters. Wolf found dead in Kremmling

KREMMLING – The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Forensics Laboratory has confirmed that an animal killed near Kremmling on April 29, 2015, was indeed a gray wolf. The animal was shot by a legal coyote hunter, who immediately notified Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), which then notified the Service. The gray wolf is protected by both the federal government and the State of Colorado as an endangered species. The Service routinely investigates incidents affecting endangered species and will conduct this investigation with the assistance of CPW. Colorado is part of the gray wolf’s native range, but wolves were eradicated from …

Eagle records sales tax growth for early 2015

EAGLE — It’s been years since the town of Eagle has reported a double digit increase in sales tax receipts together with a double digit figure for new residential building permits.But maybe 2015 will be the year that breaks that pattern.For the first quarter of 2015, Eagle recorded an 11.6 percent increase in sales tax collections and issued five new residential building permits. GYPSUM — Starting Monday, the Eagle County Regional Airport will implement paid parking at its close-in lots. Parking in front of the terminal will be $8 per day, with the first two hours free. Longterm parking on the west side of the terminal will cost $6 per day.
